Research Scholar: Pramod Ranjan
Supervisor: Dr. Saurav K Deori
Abstract: A few Indigenous communities in Jharkhand have been traditionally practicing wall art, particularly Khovar and Sohrai wall art in the Hazaribagh district to celebrate marriages, harvesting and life. In recent years, the lifestyle of the community has been evolving, and livelihood has been a dominant reason for the community artisans to practice making the art form. The Geographical Indication has been granted to the Khovar and Sohrai wall art in 2020. Although, the artisans practicing the art form are vulnerable to commercial exploitation of the art form. The study is on policies for the preservation, protection, strategic promotion and strategic contemprization of the art form.
